Who are the Clare Crusaders?

The Clare Crusaders are a Children's Clinic in Barefield. It was started by the late Howard Flannery, Ann Norton and Frank Cassidy in 2005 to help parents and families of children with Special needs in Co. Clare to achieve a better quality of life. The parents motivation was personal as the had first hand experience of the challenges facing children with special needs on a daily basis.

The Clare Crusaders was subsequently formed to help fill this void with financial input. Initially, funds were raised through the activities of the Dublin marathon. Over 200 people have run/walked/crawled the Dublin marathon since 2005 raising enough funds to start our clinic which now employs 7 therapists working with over 190+ children with special needs.

Parents and friends of children attending our clinic have helped raise more money from events such as mini-marathon, triathlons, poker classics, coffee mornings, boxing events, Cycling events, 10k runs and this year a group of people climbed Kilimanjaro. A number of parents and family members have also set up monthly standing orders and given personal donations.

Without the support of the people of Clare and their extended families throughout Ireland we would not be able to keep our clinic open. However, we are determined to meet our commitment to the children of Clare so look out for those orange shirts running, walking or cycling the length and breadth of Clare because its for a great cause.
